Brazier set a then collegiate record in the 800-meter final at the 2016 NCAA Division 1 Outdoor Championships as a freshman at Texas A&M, running 1:43.55. He turned pro following his freshman year. That mark remains his personal best. Also racing the 600 meters is former Aggie Bralon Taplin of Grenada. Taplin placed seventh in the 400-meter final at the 2016 Olympics. Joining them will be Texas A&M alum Deon Lendore of Trinidad and Tobago, who is a two-time bronze medalist in the 400 meters at the IAAF World Indoor Championships. Among the collegiate athletes, the most exciting race may come from the men's 400 meters. Texas A&M's Devin Dixon is expected to go head-to-head against UTEP's Sean Baily. The pair have run withing 0.02 seconds of each other outdoors in the 400, with Dixon having the faster personal best of 45.22. Dixon is a three-time SEC champion over 800 meters. He also is a regular feature on the Aggie's 4x400 relay teams. He anchored Texas A&M to a second-place finish at the 2018 NCAA Division 1 Outdoor Championships with a 43-second split. Baily, a sprinter from Jamaica, joins UTEP following a stint at Western Texas College where he won 400-meter indoor and outdoor titles at the NJCAA Division 1 Championships last year. |
