No. 1 ranked Aggies add five more victories at Stanford Invitational

STANFORD – Shelbi Vaughan claimed another discus title with a throw of 194 feet, 2 inches as No. 1 ranked Texas A&M generated five more victories on the second day of the Stanford Invitational.

In addition to Vaughan, the Aggies swept the 4x100 relays as well as the 200 meters with Deon Lendore and Ashton Purvis. A&M also had the top collegiate finisher in the triple jump with Olabanji Asekun.

Vaughan bettered the Invitational discus field at Stanford  by six-plus feet with her third round toss of 194-2 (59.19) after opening her series with a 194-0 (59.13). Summer Pierson placed second with a 187-11 while Stanford’s tandem of Rebecca Hammer (182-7) and Valarie Allman (177-6) finished third and fourth.
